Trading Trends with the Cronex Taichi MT4 Indicator

The Cronex Taichi MT4 Indicator is a modified version of the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo trading system. The basic Ichimoku trading indicator is available as one of the default indicators on the MT4 platform. The Cronex Taichi or simply Taichi indicator is apparently a modified version from the Ichimoku and was coded to formalize the signals from the traditional Ichimoku trading system. The Cronex Taichi MT4 Indicator is also expected to detect a prospective trend or a lack of trend in the markets. When applied to the markets, the indicator looks visually similar to the Ichimoku trading system with the exception of the cloud.

Cronex Taichi MT4 Indicator Settings

The indicator setting for the Cronex Taichi is set to the default values of 9, 26 and 52 for the Tenkan, Kijun and Senkou values. The Taichi indicator, as you might have noticed, takes the values from the traditional Ichimoku trading system. However, the values are plotted differently.

Using the optimal Cronex Taichi MT4 Indicator Settings…

• The Taichi indicator (Gray colored line) is the weighted moving average of the Tenkan, Kijun, Span A and Span B values.
• TaichiFor (Orange colored line) is the weighted moving average of Span A and Span B and shifted forward based on the Kijun value, which is 9
• Signal line (Red colored line) is the moving average of the Kijun
• SSignal (Lime colored line) is the moving average of the Senkou

Cronex Taichi MT4 Indicator Strategy and Trading Rules

The buy/sell signals with the Cronex Taichi indicator are as follows:

Sell signals using the Cronex Taichi Indicator

• The current price must be less than the Taichi, which is the preliminary signal
• The Taichi value is less than the TaichiFor, also known as the confirming signal
• The Signal is less than the Signal value which is the trigger for entering the trade

The chart above shows the sell signal that was triggered after all the rules were met (indicated by the red vertical line) and the down arrow on the chart which shows the price at which the short trade would be entered. The trade is exited only after an opposite signal is triggered (indicated the green horizontal line).

In terms of stops for the above set up, it can be set to the nearest swing point or the initial stop can be set to the Taichi value.

Buy signals using the Cronex Taichi Indicator

• The current price must be greater than the Taichi, which is the preliminary signal
• The Taichi value is greater than the TaichiFor, also known as the confirming signal
• The Signal is greater than the Signal value which is the trigger for entering the trade

In the above chart we have a buy signal example. The vertical red line shows the price bar where the buy conditions are met. On the next bar, a long signal is taken with stops set to the Taichi value or the nearest swing low point. The long position is held out until the opposite sell signal is established.

The Cronex taichi is a rather unique indicator and works similar to that of the Ichimoku with a few variations. The TaichiFor, which is shifted 26 periods forward, can serve as a trend indicator. When the TaichiFor is flat, it indicates that the trend is currently flat and therefore traders should be more cautious about trading the buy/sell signals. However, depending on the slope of the taichi indicator, traders can expect to see a bullish or a bearish trend form and then take the buy/sell signals accordingly.

Technically speaking, you can use this MT4 indicator for all time frames. However, the shorter the time frame, you will see more fluctuation and possibly more whipsaw which may cause small losses that can eat up your portfolio quickly.
