Forex Market Hours

In this video we’re going to talk about Forex Market Hours and adopting trading styles as well according to those trading times.

Because one of the popular questions that I get is “well, when is the best time to trade?” and “if I trade at this particular point in time what is the best strategy?”

So let me just go off to the browser first of all and I want you to type in “Forex trading times in there.”

Let’s take a look at this one and see if it’s actually good.

New York opens up at 8 and closes at 5 pm Eastern. Tokyo opens at 7 pm and closes at 4 am Eastern.

These all Eastern hours by the way.

Sydney opens at 5 pm Eastern and then closes at 2 am Eastern.

London opens up at 3 am Eastern and 12 noon Eastern.

Now the best times to trade or the one that I’ve had the most success in are the London open.

I tend to stop trading around about lunch time New York because things start to slow down there.

Now I can understand that there are many of you who will not have the ability to be at a trading station at 1 o’ clock in the morning or 2 o’ clock in the morning which is what I used to do.

And I would probably trade for maybe 3 to 5 hours.

If I make 50 to 100 pips I will just call it a day, I won’t push myself any further.

So it really depends…if you’re living in the United States and you’re living in Eastern hours  getting up at 3 am can be a bit of a task for most people.

You’re not going to really lose out that much if you were to start trading at 8 o’ clock or 9 o’ clock in the morning.

You will have some pretty good success between the hours of say 7:30 to 12:30 Eastern hours.

But there are some strategies – I mean there are guys that I know that are in Sydney or they are in Australia and they’re up until late hours of their evening just to get in on these ones as well.

It’s really hard to try and really pinpoint without knowing what your schedule’s like but if you’re someone like me who can get up early in the morning, you’re going to have a lot more chances and a lot more opportunities to make money and open and close trades, getting used to how things are operating that you’ll start to learn before you move in to a live trading account.

If you’re someone who is also like me who gets up at like 1 o’ clock, 2 o’ clock, 3 o’ clock in the afternoon – sometimes my hours change when I’m trading the Forex.

So it’s really hard to really pinpoint a good time to always get up but I have got up sometimes at 3 or 4 o’ clock in the afternoon and I’ve looked at the trading charts and nothing is really moving.

But again depending on the fundamental analysis, you might have like a Euro, Japanese Yen might move a considerable amount as well.

For the best part if you can get up early in the morning you can do most of the strategies that I have prepared for you on this website.

And there are going to be many of them.

Off the top of my head there’s going to be over 40 strategies that you can actually try to learn and adopt… so what time you trade is not a big concern as there will always be a strategy suitable.

Now if you get up at about 12 o’ clock noon, you’ll still be okay until around about say 4 o’ clock in the afternoon.

But be warned that from right about twelve onward it does start to get a little bit slower.

If you have inconsistent work schedule, it’s ok too because you can incorporate some long term strategies that we have in this course, it doesn’t really matter what time of the day it is.

You go ahead and just basically focus on the higher time frames if you’re waking up outside of the normal trading hours.

So really, try to find a style that you are happy with and probably give yourself maybe like a couple of weeks or you might already know that you do want to do trading on a 9 to 5 kind of basis and just persevere and get on.

Regardless of your time, Forex works 24 hours 5 days a week... there is always a strategy to fit your time.

More of this will come in later lessons…
